Deadline Extended to September 30, 2024

As part of the Valley Photo Center Walker Evans Celebration, we are sponsoring an Evan’s themed photography contest. The Metropolitan Museum of Art wrote that Evans was “the progenitor of the documentary tradition in American photography.” Entries should be inspired by his work and will be judged by London based street photographer, Stephen Leslie, who will be in the United States to do a street photography workshop on Saturday October 5, 2024 for a small fee and give a lecture about Walker Evans on Sunday October 6, 2024 for the Valley Photo Center that is free and open to the public.

Digital entries for the contest are open now and will be accepted until midnight on September 30, 2024. The finalists will be printed for a Valley Photo Center gallery show. Entries can be submitted by going to: https://mycameraclub.com/valley-photo-center and clicking on Sign In at the top right-hand sign of the member bar, If you aren’t already a member you can join for free. Once you sign in go to the Club Activity box on the home page to find the contest.

Prizes will include enlargements of your digital files, photography books from photographers like Man Ray, Steichen, Helmut Newton, and others, award ribbons, an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Ink Jet printer with some CMYK inks, and paper and other merchandize prizes.

2024 March Members Photo Contest

March Photo Contest
The March Photo Contest was won by Barbara Krawczyk for her photo "Orchard Beauty"

In addition to the normal ribbons and print prizes Barbara won a book called "An Auto Biography Richard Avedon"
